The VP 416-ALB-30 is a heat block with SBS microplate dimensions insert that fits inside our standard VP 741 through VP 744 Heat Block series. It has a special Eddy Current defeating design that minimizes the eddy current phenomena resulting from magnetic lines of flux passing through large masses of aluminum without affecting the insert’s ability to transfer heat. The Eddy Current defeating design reduces the load on the magnetic stirrer’s motor and also reduces the temperature that the aluminum block is heated up to. This latter phenomena is important in applications where the temperature of the heat block needs to be less than 40°C. The heat block insert has 30 wells shaped to accommodate microcentrifuge tubes. Each well bottom has a conical shape to conform to a microcentrifuge tube and is 11 mm wide by 23.5 mm deep.
